Why Faith Is An Essential Guiding Principle

In a previous post I talked about character as being the essence of ‘who we are’. And that it is central to our guiding principles. Now, let me talk about being faithful.

First, to Be Faithful means to believe in yourself and that you have it in you to accomplish what you set out to do. It is said that human beings have the capacity to accomplish whatever we can envision. It may not happen in our lifetime but with time if we can envision it we can accomplish it. Just look at all the things we have right now that we didn’t have 10, 20, or 50 years ago. Self-driving cars, cell phones, space vehicle on Mars. Any one of these things were non-existent at one time in the past. But then came into existence because someone imagined it and believed it was possible.

Without Belief

Without belief – these things would not have happened. You’ve probably experienced it in your own life. Someone told you, you couldn’t do something, but you knew you could. So you did it.

How can you help your child believe in himself? By believing in him, first. If a parent believes that their child will be good-for-nothing, then the child will become good-for-nothing. On the other hand. If the parent believes that their child will accomplish great things, then the child will believe it, too. And set out to accomplish great things. This is not to say that a child can’t make it on his own. A few rare children can. But most children do better when their parent believes in them first.

Next month I’ll discuss ‘Endeavor’ and how to tie it into your child’s daily life.

Let me know what you think. I look forward to hearing from you.
